A simple, playful app for learning IOF orienteering control description and map symbols. Whether you are learning or helping others learn, this tool makes orienteering’s visual language easy to grasp — no translation required.
Hi! I’m Yannig — a developer and orienteering fan based in Ireland, building tools that help make our sport more accessible, fun, and welcoming.
I started this project to help newcomers (and me) decode control description sheets and orienteering maps without needing to print out reference guides. The IOF symbols are brilliant — but they can feel intimidating. This app helps learning them in a fun way.
- ✅ Explore every IOF control description and map symbol in a visual, searchable library
- 🧠 Test your knowledge with quick quizzes and challenges on both symbol types
- 🧭 Practice reading full control sheets, just like you would in a real event (coming soon)
- 📊 Track your progress as you learn (maybe)

If this app helped you learn or teach orienteering, there are several ways you can support its development and help keep it free and open for everyone!
Thanks for exploring and contributing 🧭
